Our Story

Hi, I’m Emmaline—the person behind The Fruitful Fig.

My journey toward living more sustainably has happened gradually, through a love of nature, an appreciation for things that are made to last, and a desire to be more thoughtful about what I consume. But just as important has been finding community along the way—connecting with people who grow, create, repair, and share things.

My house has always been overflowing with two things: books and plants. I love the character of something that has already had a life, the satisfaction of growing and caring for something, and the feeling of being surrounded by things that have a story.

The Fruitful Fig grew from wanting to bring all of those things together under one roof. A place to refill what you already have, shop locally, browse old books, bring home a plant, learn something new, meet someone new, or simply slow down for a little while.

Why Amesbury

Amesbury is home. After moving here, I quickly fell in love with the community—the walkability of downtown, the small businesses, the connection to local farms and makers, and the way people genuinely show up for one another.

Working at Heron Pond Farm and teaching at Rise Fitness Studio gave me an even deeper connection to the people here. When I started envisioning The Fruitful Fig, I really couldn't imagine opening it anywhere else.

What We Believe

You don't need a perfectly zero-waste home, a pantry full of matching jars, or all the answers to shop at The Fruitful Fig. We are a down-to-earth space, created for everyday people.

We believe sustainability should feel possible in everyday life. Sometimes that means refilling the same bottle over and over. Sometimes it means buying something secondhand, supporting a local maker, choosing a reusable option, or simply buying less.

There is no judgment and no expectation of perfection here. Make the changes that work for you and know that the small things count too.
